Banter on cod4 Ok, having bit the bullet(pardon the pun),got cod4 for xmas. Good game,graphics up to what you would expect from a new release,& plenty of s/p levels. A bit frustrating on m/p as all too much run 'n' gun,, for me anyway,,maybe or own server could calm things down the way we seem to like things (based on the way we play b/t).Some spawn points are just an easy killing spree on some maps,you just dont get the chance to react,which spoils the chance to "feel the game" as it was. On a personel note its not as good as airborne (s/p & m/p)for graphics(out of this world) and game play (ref to b/t again),but as I said, thats a personel note,I know most of you had issues with playing on your computers(lag etc)so it would have been hard to judge,which is a shame as it is a great game.. This is something I had to get off my chest,I am sure if we get our on server as I mentioned it would be mod'ed to our preferences. |

DITTO THAT Could Not Have Said It Better! I hate run and gun, and that is the only thing that turns me off with cod4. I agreee, if we can get our own server, w/password, just for us members, I think we can really enjoy ourselves with this. And the rank should be the same for everyone if possible, this way it's a fair playing ground, because a Private against a General is not fair play. Enough Said. |

some things i have found well, i think i might have the most hours logged on it so far, so i think i can throw some stuff out there: run & gun - to avoid this there are some servers that have "tactical" in their description : these servers either have 1 or a combo of rules - they might have an iron sights only (scopes ok) , with the cross hair disabled like in "hardcore mode", crouch or prone shots only. the mods have just started to come out recently so more "control" of run and gun should be expected. spawn raping - sad to say but it's EVERYWHERE, the only way around it is to find a server with anti-raping as a rule. i've been compiling a list in my favs but with the last few patches the servers didnt catch up and i cant find them. i've gone back to the old pen and paper to keep track. alas this is only as affective if there are "active" admins. again i found a few and lost most, re-working the list for posting. the spawn points at the moment all react like "tug of war" i either wait to be over run and spawn behind the bastards or sneak behind enemy lines - "3 frag perk" works here cause you just fling the damn things at them. rank balance - there currently is a script out there that reduces everyone to "private" - you dont lose it permanently if you go back to a diff server- there is another that limits what weapons and perks you can use - i would think that the "m14 carbine" would be "our" rifle of choice. i've been looking around on codhq and codfiles for something like this for us when, if , we ever go in this direction. "old school mode" - built into the game with an ammo limit, if you use yours up, you're shit out of luck until you kill someone else and take thiers or find a gun to pick up - this really limits run and gun as ammo is limited. happy new year!! |
